Objective: This project develops a RME program for small and limited resource producers in North Alabama in order to increase their participation in crop insurance programs, and to assist them cope with increasing uncertainty in weather, crop yields, prices and overall farm income. Specifically, the project will develop comprehensive outreach materials about risk management and strategies for risk management and train small, limited resource and underserved producers (including youth and women) in how to use risk management tools and access information.

Project: Managing Risk for Small Farms and Rural Enterprises in South-Central Alabama

Objective: To strengthen financial risk management for small farms and rural enterprises in South-Central Alabama. Seek to improve the workbook by incorporating enterprise and cash flow budgeting tools. It will also make this opportunity available to CEAs and other small business development professionals who work with small enterprises in the Alabama Black Belt and rural Alabama. Specifically review, strengthen and reproduce the workbook on managing cash flow, train CEAs, Farm Management Specialist, and other professionals, make the workbook available online and easy to use for further on-site training in the counties and select communities, conduct on-site workshops, provide one-on-one assistance for select enterprises and evaluate particiapnts' assessment of the value and outcome of the program.
