Wheat
Farmer
President, Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association
Hydro, Oklahoma
In 1903, Jeff's
grandfather traded a team of horses with a wagon loaded with oats
for the original 160 acres of the Krehbiels' family farm. Four generations
later, this land is still in the family and the operation has expanded
significantly. Jeff graduated from Oklahoma State University in
1985 with a BS in Animal Science and returned home to the family
farm and hardware store. Shortly thereafter, he purchased his own
farm which he also expanded and now, with the retirement of his
father, he farms approximately 2,650 acres, raising wheat, peanuts,
milo, soybeans, white acrea peas and cotton. Jeff also has 250 head
of commercial ewes that he runs on wheat pasture.
Jeff and his
family sold the family hardware business in 1991 but retained the
T-L Center Pivot irrigation dealership and continued to sell and
service T-L Center Pivots. Over the last fifteen years, they have
sold more T-L pivots than any other dealer in the five state region.
Jeff is currently
President of the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association (OWGA) and serves
on several committees with the National Association of Wheat Growers.
His affiliations with OWGA and Oklahoma Farm Bureau have allowed
him to travel to Washington, DC on several occasions to meet with
legislators and their aids on a variety of topics. He also had the
opportunity to testify before the House Ag committee on the upcoming
farm bill.
Jeff is married
to Karen, a Certified Public Accountant, and they have one daughter,
Brittany, who is in the fifth grade.
