Jason received his B.S. (1991) in Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University; his M.S. (1993) in Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University; and his Ph.D. (1996) in Agricultural and Applied Economics with a minor in Family Financial Planning from Texas Tech University.

Jason has worked as an Extension Economist for Texas A&M University and Texas Cooperative Extension since 1997 and has been elected as President-Elect of the Texas Cooperative Extension Specialists Association. During Jason's Extension Career, he has presented over 700 educational programs pertaining to production, price and financial risk management. He is a fifth generation rancher and owns and operates the family's 125 year old 1,200 acre cattle operation in Jacksboro, Texas.

Jason is also a Registered Investment Advisor (Texas State Securities Board) and is responsible for managing over $8.5 million in client assets. Jason and his high-school dream-girl wife, Leann, have two children; Maxi (age 9) and Justin (age 4).
